Carewix was born out of frustration — watching healthcare staffing agencies manage billion-dollar workforces with spreadsheets, sticky notes, and group texts. There had to be a better way.
The Problem We Saw
Healthcare staffing shouldn't run on spreadsheets
Healthcare staffing agencies in Canada and the United States collectively place hundreds of thousands of workers every week — nurses, PSWs, therapists, and support staff who keep hospitals, long-term care homes, and clinics running. And yet the tools most of these agencies use to manage their workforce look like they were built in 2005.
We saw agencies running shift matching through group chats. Credential tracking through color-coded Excel tabs. Invoice reconciliation through email chains that took weeks to resolve. Meanwhile, the workers themselves were left calling agencies every morning hoping a shift had opened up.
The result wasn't just inefficiency — it was real harm. Uncredentialed workers slipping through. Shifts going unfilled for hours because a recruiter was busy. Agencies unable to scale because their infrastructure couldn't keep up with their ambition.
We started Carewix to fix that. Not with a generic HR tool, not with a repurposed ATS — but with a platform designed from scratch for the specific, complex, compliance-heavy reality of healthcare staffing.
